Nicky’s Smokehouse and Big Dipper Creamery are teaming up for dinner.
The obvious question is what, exactly, they are going to make together.
That question is pretty much the point of Food Fight: Tag Team at Mother Road Market on Thursday, October 15.
For the final Food Fight of 2026, Mother Road Market randomly paired its merchants and several Kitchen 66 businesses into six two-business teams. Each pair gets to create a dish together.
What they come up with is still the surprise.
Zasa’s Pizza & Wings drew LeRoux’s Kitchen. Sugar 66 is paired with Afrikan Delights. Howdy Burger joins Chicken and the Wolf. Nicky’s Smokehouse gets Big Dipper Creamery.
Then there is Koko’s with Baloney Maroney, and Chef J’s Flavor Station with Morcilla’s Tulsa.
A familiar food counter can become interesting all over again when the people behind it have to work with a different kitchen.
That is what gives this one some personality. You can look at the pairings and start wondering long before the first bite arrives.
The crowd gets the final say. Attendees choose which team takes home the win.
Food Fight runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Mother Road Market, 1124 S. Lewis Ave. DJ Oreo is scheduled to provide the music, and The WEL Bar will have drink specials.
General admission is currently listed at $20, plus sales tax and a $2.38 fee. The event food is included; drinks are separate. Check the ticket page for current availability before heading out.
As for what happens when a smokehouse teams up with an ice cream shop?
For once, not knowing what’s for dinner is part of the appeal.
